Ramp length, slope and weight limit, and how it is deployed, so getting in and out is easy and safe.

    The door opening compared with your chair’s height and width with the user seated, including headrests and joysticks.

  • Interior space and your chair

    Manual chairs, power chairs and scooters vary in size and weight. We make sure yours fits inside with enough headroom.

  • Passengers and wheelchair places

    How many seats there are and how many wheelchair users can travel at the same time.

  • Restraint systems

    The chair is secured with suitable restraints and the user wears a seat belt. We confirm the system suits your chair.

  • Luggage space

    Ramps and wheelchair spaces can reduce boot space, so we check there is room for your luggage.

What to know before you send your request.

How do I request a wheelchair accessible van?

Fill in the short form: where you need the van, your dates, how many people are travelling and how to contact you. It takes about two minutes.

Is my request a confirmed booking?

Not yet. A request is free and has no commitment. We send you an offer with the vehicle and the full price, and the booking is confirmed once you accept it and the rental company confirms.

What happens after I send a request?

We review your needs, check suitable vans with rental companies and email you an offer. If we need more details, we ask you first.

Do I need my wheelchair measurements?

Not to send a request. If we find a possible van, we will ask for the length, width and height with the user seated, and the weight if you know it. Approximate figures are fine.

How far in advance should I send a request?

As early as you can. Accessible vans are limited, especially in high season, so more notice means more choice.

Are accessible vehicles available throughout Spain?

Our base is Madrid. For other destinations, send your request and we will look for options there.

Can I request pick-up at an airport?

Yes. Tell us your arrival airport, such as Madrid-Barajas, and we arrange pick-up there whenever the rental company offers it.

Can I travel while remaining in my wheelchair?

Yes. Ramp vans are designed for this, with restraints that secure the chair. We confirm the system fits your chair before we offer you a vehicle.

Can I travel with family members and luggage?

Yes, tell us how many people travel and how much luggage you have. Space varies a lot between vehicles, so we take it into account when looking for options.

Who provides the vehicle?

The van comes from a rental company in Spain. AbleVan finds it, checks that it suits your chair, arranges the booking and is your contact throughout.

What do you check before offering a vehicle?

Ramp and access, door and interior measurements against your chair, wheelchair restraints, seats and luggage space. We also confirm the price, deposit, insurance and conditions, and include them in your offer.

What if you cannot find a suitable option?

We tell you straight away, and you owe nothing.

Can I get help in English or Spanish?
